Missions & Priorities

Tech-MOMHS Mission

Our purpose is to ensure that pregnant or postpartum individuals in rural eastern North Carolina can access the mental health and substance use treatment they need but often cannot reach.

Tech-MOMHS Priorities

  • Removing barriers to care by offering virtual and in-person treatment options.
  • Increasing engagement and retention in recovery and counseling services
  • Reducing stigma around seeking help for substance use and mental health challenges.
  • Building strong community connections to create a supportive network for mothers and
    their families.

Tech-MOMHS Goals

  • Improve maternal and infant health outcomes.
  • Expand access to behavioral health services to rural areas where providers are limited.
  • Educate and empower mothers to understand and manage risk factors affecting pregnancy.
  • Promote sustained recovery from substance use disorders using digital tools and counseling support.
  • Offer job readiness training and employment assistance to support long-term economic stability.
  • Collaborate with health departments, obstetric providers, and community organizations to create an accessible system of care.

Grant Funded Projects

TECH-MOMHS

Technology for Maternal Occupational and Mental Health and Substance Use Services is a grant funded project through The Duke Endowment

Mission

To reduce the number of preterm and low-birthweight infants and increase utilization of pre-natal services by addressing psychosocial determinants of health including mental health, substance use, and employment issues for expectant and postpartum individuals up to 12 months.

Goals

Engage ENC: WD has three goals: 1) Increase the job readiness of individuals with SUD/COD within the catchment area; 2) Decrease the unemployment rate for individuals with SUD/COD within the catchment area; and 3) Increase rates of sustained recovery for individuals with SUD/COD within the catchment area.


Counseling and Peer Support Services

Counseling Services

These services are for adults struggling with daily life stressors, social difficulties, mental health issues, substance use issues, or employment challenges. The clinical specialists of Tech-MOMHS strive to provide a holistic approach to counseling using evidence-based practices to meet the diverse needs of clients. These services include:

  • Assessment and treatment planning
  • Individual counseling with a focus on mental health and addiction
  • Assistance with accessing community resources
  • Career counseling with a focus on job development and readiness skills
